Richard A. Ecke, President

Richard Ecke is President and a co-owner of Berry Ecke Associates Public Relations, one of New Jersey’s oldest and most respected public relations firms.

Richard joined Berry Associates in 1997 as an Account Executive and was quickly elevated to Senior Account Executive. He continues to serve as managing editor for several corporate publications, and is the author of numerous internal communication and marketing communication campaigns for Fortune 1000 companies. He has also been involved in planning a number of special corporate events, the most notable to date is General Colin Powell’s visit to Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation on behalf of America’s Promise.

In June of 2000, Richard became a Principal of Berry Associates and he and founder Bob Berry began a transition of ownership of the 30-year-old agency. He remains active in identifying future clients, managing publications and counseling clients in employee and corporate communications, media relations, political affairs and issues management. In December of 2001, Rich was elected president of the NJ Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (NJIABC).

While earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Cook College at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, Richard volunteered his time with an environmental non-profit organization where he helped plan press conferences on a variety of populist issues. Intrigued by the political PR arena, Richard jump-started his career by running the press operation for a Congressional candidate in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District.

In late 1994, Richard was recruited to serve as the Communications Director for the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. In addition to acting as a spokesperson and press liaison, he launched the New Jersey Democratic Party’s first Web site, created a weekly television program, and advised numerous local and legislative campaigns on campaign communication tactics.

After leaving the State Committee in 1996, Richard served as Communications Director for a Congressional campaign in the New Jersey’s 7th Congressional district and later served as Deputy Communications Director for the Rob Andrews for Governor Campaign.

Rich lives with his wife, Bonnie, and daughter, Meghan, in Byram, NJ.
